A Message From Trinity Grannan

We didn't choose to have a child with special needs. No one does. But sometimes, we have found out, God has bigger plans for our lives. Sometimes we don't understand those plans at first but slowly he shows us the bigger picture. One of the first things we heard when we received the news that Trinity would be born with Spina Bifida was that we needed to get on the waiting list at The Little Light House. While we had no idea what the future held for us at that time, we went in to The Little Light House at 20 weeks pregnant to get on the waiting list. We waited 2 1/2 years and received a call she would be attending starting in August 2018. So many emotions came rolling through. Joy, excitement, hope, nervousness. In August 2018, Trinity began her 1st year at The Little Light House in Orange class. She has become quite the social butterfly, learning to communicate her needs and wants, propelling her wheelchair and stander more efficiently. In her first year alone, she learned to communicate her needs and wants, how to pray, how to have relationships with her friends, how to play, how to drink from a straw cap, how to feed herself independently using utensils, her shapes, her colors, the alphabet, the list goes on about how much she has accomplished just in her first year! She is THRIVING and it is all because of this amazing school that we get to attend tuition free! Starting in August 2019, Trinity will be in Green Class where she will meet new friends, make new relationships, and meet new goals. She'll learn more about Jesus and the world around her and we are so excited to see what this year brings. The cost of tuition for a place like The Little Light House is $32,000 per year. However, we are able to send Trinity there for FREE because of their commitment to provide care and education for every child. The Little Light House is solely based on donations as they do not receive any government funding. We would like to give back through several fundraising efforts leading up to October 12th, when Trinity will participate in her Mini Laps!! We are so grateful for your role on our journey and for allowing our little girl to inspire you! Thank you!

In Support of Little Light House

Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center for Children with Special Needs from birth to 6 years old. Tulsa’s Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most individualized special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach maximizes a comprehensive knowledge from professionals who work collaboratively to design prescriptive programs for each child and assist every child in reaching their maximum potential. Through a variety of programs and schedules, these services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists, and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Early Intervention classes are provided as a part-time program where caregivers attend and learn along with their child for two-hour classes once a week.

Little Light House is tuition-free for families and does not receive government or United Way funding. Support comes from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. In addition, LLH hosts four annual fundraisers each year bringing in about 40% of the $4.2 million dollar operating cost that allows our staff of over 90 members to provide services to over 300 children and families, support nearly a thousand volunteers, and train over 1,000 college and career students each year.

Little Light House believes that all children are a gift from God with the potential to achieve specific milestones to advance their quality of life. We strive for excellence by utilizing a Bible-based curriculum in a fun and loving atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, trans-disciplinary and God-centered approach to education-an approach that joins parents, professionals, and the Holy Spirit as partners in order to nurture the spirit, mind, and body of the children and their families. Our commitment incorporates being called to work/volunteer with children with special needs. Little Light House encourages a positive outlook on the future, based on trust in a loving heavenly Father.
