A Message From McCrae and Shep Cox

Hi friends! It is McCrae and Shep and we are raising money for our school- the Little Light House! Most of you have heard a lot about our school, but those of you who haven't we would like to tell you a little bit about it! The Little Light House is a school who serves children with special needs. The best part of this school is that it is a completely tuition-free and the students receive both educational and therapeutic services. We are each in classes with 10 awesome friends, who all use different ways to communicate, move, and live! This school was built JUST FOR THEM! We have special education teachers, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, vision therapists, and MORE all working together to make sure every one of our friends can experience everything! We have our own Bible-based curriculum that uses Bible stories to allow our friends to explore the world. Every child leaves this school having climbed a tree, attended summer camp, and even roller-skated! It encourages our friends to be the best they can be and uses research and creativity to include every friend in every thing we do. Every day, our friends learn about God’s love and miracles while experiencing both of those things. Pretty amazing right? If this school required families to pay, it would be about $32,000 per child to come! BUT, because of the Lords grace and fundraisers LIKE THIS ONE, our friends get to attend totally free! The Little Light House does not accept any money from the government or United Way. Little Light House is adding two MORE classrooms and a whole new early intervention program in 2019-2020 and the need is huge right now. We are currently part of the SKIP program- which is a reverse inclusion program that allows us to make all of these amazing friends and cheer them on every day! If you know our mommy, you know children with special needs are her passion and when we received the opportunity to attend The Little Light House our mom and dad jumped at the opportunity and we are so glad they did! Our friends here are so awesome! We are too little to have jobs and give money directly to our classes, but we still want to do our part! We will each do a lap for our friends around the track at Mini Laps this year on Saturday, October 12 and our friends will all be there too! Some of us will walk or run, or ride bikes or scooters. Some friends will be in floats they make out of their wheelchairs or wagons! It is so much fun to watch and this year the theme is “Made in Oklahoma”, and we are so proud to be COWBOYS! If you would like to support our school, you can make a donation on this page or contact our mommy about being an individual or corporate sponsor! She is good at those kind of details and can help! She said to tell you that our school is a 501(c)(3) so your donation is tax deductible... whatever that means! Thank you so much for supporting us and our favorite friends! Love, The Cox Boys

In Support of Little Light House

Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center for Children with Special Needs from birth to 6 years old. Tulsa’s Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most individualized special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach maximizes a comprehensive knowledge from professionals who work collaboratively to design prescriptive programs for each child and assist every child in reaching their maximum potential. Through a variety of programs and schedules, these services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists, and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Early Intervention classes are provided as a part-time program where caregivers attend and learn along with their child for two-hour classes once a week.

Little Light House is tuition-free for families and does not receive government or United Way funding. Support comes from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. In addition, LLH hosts four annual fundraisers each year bringing in about 40% of the $4.2 million dollar operating cost that allows our staff of over 90 members to provide services to over 300 children and families, support nearly a thousand volunteers, and train over 1,000 college and career students each year.

Little Light House believes that all children are a gift from God with the potential to achieve specific milestones to advance their quality of life. We strive for excellence by utilizing a Bible-based curriculum in a fun and loving atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, trans-disciplinary and God-centered approach to education-an approach that joins parents, professionals, and the Holy Spirit as partners in order to nurture the spirit, mind, and body of the children and their families. Our commitment incorporates being called to work/volunteer with children with special needs. Little Light House encourages a positive outlook on the future, based on trust in a loving heavenly Father.
