A Message From Easton Quijada
I hope you’ll consider helping Easton raise money for his 2020 school year at The Little Light House! His school is a Christian developmental center for children with special needs. They operate fully on donations meaning they get zero government funding. The place is SO popular Easton was on the waitlist for 2.5 years before he got to start going! He receives Physical Therapy, Speech and Occupation therapy while at school. Physical- to help build muscle, working on jumping and running! Speech- to form consonant & vowel sounds and eventually forming words. Occupational- to help with daily independence like putting clothes on, taking them off, brushing teeth, feeding himself. All of this is provided at the Little Light House! Because of donations from people like you and me they are able to offer this for Easton completely free!
Since he started school in August 2018 he has expanded the types & textures of food he will eat. He will now use a spoon to eat..pudding, chocolate pudding, and only pudding! Over the course of quarantine Easton has officially became potty trained, HURRAY!! His communication skills are improving with his favorite ASL signs like, ice cream, chip, cracker, candy, cup, milk, and blueberry. He’s just now getting the hang of saying pudding! LLH is definitely a critical stepping stone in Eastons school life. It’s teaching him social skills, the patience to stay sitting in his chair, participation, and it’s also teaching us as parents what areas he needs to improve in before he is set off into the real world of kindergarten. Life throws us some crazy curve balls, but we’re so grateful to have LLH and their amazing staff to help us navigate everything. When Easton was diagnosed with Down Syndrome it was the unknown and the lack of education that made us scared for what was ahead. The teachers and staff are such a God send of a resource and we would be lost without them! I hope you’ll consider making a donation on Eastons behalf to support such an amazing preschool that blesses not only our family but SO MANY in the Tulsa community!
