A Message From Kelsey Easterwood

Kelsey Brynn Easterwood was born June 1, 2015 weighing only 2.5lbs. We spent 3 months in the NICU as she struggled to thrive, and doctors worked to diagnose her condition. We eventually discovered that Kelsey has a condition called Mosaic Trisomy 9, which is an extremely rare chromosomal abnormality affecting less than 200 people in the entire world. Given the rarity of her condition, we do not know how it will affect her life. She has endured multiple surgeries and hospital stays, and her current challenges include feeding, speech, walking, scoliosis, and muscle development. Kelsey is truly a miracle to even be here – she brings so much light to our life and she blesses our family every day! After her diagnosis, we learned about the Little Light House, a Christian preschool for children with special needs. This amazing facility is made up of incredible teachers, therapists and administrators that are passionate about providing quality care to special needs children. They love and value each child, and Kelsey absolutely adores her teachers and therapists. Kelsey gets extremely excited each day we go to her school! As her parents, this gives us incredible joy and peace knowing our little girl is learning every day and is receiving the kind of care and love that she needs. Kelsey has truly thrived in this environment. On October 10, 2020 Kelsey will participate in her 3rd Mini-laps event at the Little Light House. We are hopeful and prayerful that this year she will actually WALK her lap around the school track! This is an incredibly moving and powerful event that recognizes and honors all the accomplishments of the children and their therapists and teachers. We would be humbled and honored if you would sponsor Kelsey for her lap. The school relies COMPLETELY upon donations and allows children like Kelsey to receive the care they need, and all donations are deductible. We are grateful for your role in our journey and we are overwhelmed by your past support of The Little Light House. Thank you to everyone that has interceded in prayer for our family over the last 5 years, as we strive to help Kelsey flourish and develop. In Christ, The Easterwoods Brian, Connie, Katelyn, Kinley, and Kelsey

In Support of Little Light House

Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center for Children with Special Needs from birth to 6 years old. Tulsa’s Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most individualized special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach maximizes a comprehensive knowledge from professionals who work collaboratively to design prescriptive programs for each child and assist every child in reaching their maximum potential. Through a variety of programs and schedules, these services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists, and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Early Intervention classes are provided as a part-time program where caregivers attend and learn along with their child for two-hour classes once a week.

Little Light House is tuition-free for families and does not receive government or United Way funding. Support comes from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. In addition, LLH hosts four annual fundraisers each year bringing in about 40% of the $4.2 million dollar operating cost that allows our staff of over 90 members to provide services to over 300 children and families, support nearly a thousand volunteers, and train over 1,000 college and career students each year.

Little Light House believes that all children are a gift from God with the potential to achieve specific milestones to advance their quality of life. We strive for excellence by utilizing a Bible-based curriculum in a fun and loving atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, trans-disciplinary and God-centered approach to education-an approach that joins parents, professionals, and the Holy Spirit as partners in order to nurture the spirit, mind, and body of the children and their families. Our commitment incorporates being called to work/volunteer with children with special needs. Little Light House encourages a positive outlook on the future, based on trust in a loving heavenly Father.
