A Message From Henry Connell

Hi it's me...Henry!!! Two years ago my parents were asked if I wanted to be a part of the SKIP (Staff Kids Inclusion Program) at The Little Light House. My mom has taken pictures of all the kids that go through LLH for the past 18 years and was thrilled when I was invited to have a special spot at the school! Over the past two years I have learned so many things but what makes my mom and dad the most proud is how I have learned to be such a good friend to everyone! Did you know that one of my best buddies uses a chair to get around and another one uses an app called LAMP on an ipad to talk because he hasn't learned how to use his voice yet and another friend gets her yummy lunch through a tube in her belly because she can't eat through her mouth. Our teachers use sign language and I have learned how to sign a lot of things and can talk with my friends that way too! All of my friends have different things that make them amazing and special and each one of us can do different things and have different abilities and we ALL work together to help each other learn and grow and reach new milestones!! Another really cool fact about my amazing school is that we all get therapy (OT, PT, Speech and Vision) every week in our own classroom. My favorite is OT but I love PT too!! I also really love Praise and Worship and dancing and singing about how much my God loves me and all my friends! As amazing as this school is the most amazing part is that it is FREE for all of my friends.....tuition, therapy, nursing needs, etc....it doesn't cost their families anything!! And it is ALL because of amazing people like YOU and others in our community and around that world that give to The Little Light House!! I am so excited to start my 3rd year and this year I am in Orange class and look forward to making even more new friends!! Thank you for helping me reach my goals so I can watch my friends continue to meet theirs! The video clip below show just how much fun we all have at school and if you pay attention around 1:08 you will see me and my buddies!! Just copy and paste it into your browser to watch!

In Support of Little Light House

Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center for Children with Special Needs from birth to 6 years old. Tulsa’s Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most individualized special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach maximizes a comprehensive knowledge from professionals who work collaboratively to design prescriptive programs for each child and assist every child in reaching their maximum potential. Through a variety of programs and schedules, these services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists, and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Early Intervention classes are provided as a part-time program where caregivers attend and learn along with their child for two-hour classes once a week.

Little Light House is tuition-free for families and does not receive government or United Way funding. Support comes from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. In addition, LLH hosts four annual fundraisers each year bringing in about 40% of the $4.2 million dollar operating cost that allows our staff of over 90 members to provide services to over 300 children and families, support nearly a thousand volunteers, and train over 1,000 college and career students each year.

Little Light House believes that all children are a gift from God with the potential to achieve specific milestones to advance their quality of life. We strive for excellence by utilizing a Bible-based curriculum in a fun and loving atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, trans-disciplinary and God-centered approach to education-an approach that joins parents, professionals, and the Holy Spirit as partners in order to nurture the spirit, mind, and body of the children and their families. Our commitment incorporates being called to work/volunteer with children with special needs. Little Light House encourages a positive outlook on the future, based on trust in a loving heavenly Father.
