A Message From Shawna McClung

As an alumni family, we love to support the school that changed our lives forever! What started as our family seeking help to empower our kiddo with Autism to grow and stretch out of his comfort zone, has grown in to so much more. We came to LLH to receive education and therapy services for Aden, but what we really received was a community and village built to help us through one of our toughest seasons. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but it takes an incredibly special village to raise a kiddo with disabilities. We found that when we came to LLH! A staff that wraps up your kid in so much love, they have a smile on their face everys single day & have a hard time leaving. A staff that doesn't see your kid for what they CAN'T do, but instead focuses on what they CAN do. Our school is tuition free to the families, and it is estimated that the education and therapy services the kids receive costs around $28,000 a year. For families walking through surgeries, therapies, hospital bills, insurance bills, etc. to have a tuition-free school built to love our kids SO well makes a HUGE difference. We raise money to continue to bless these families with tuition free services, while they navigate the first 6 years of life with their kiddo. LLH has certified Special Education Teachers, Teaching Associates, Registered Nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapist, Speech & Language Pathologists, Vision Consultants, and Assistive Technology Consultants all on staff to give the most well-rounded & inclusive services to children with disabilities. Always a 1:2 ratio with our kids to have the most hands-on experience everyday and great events to celebrate every milestone they achieve. Our children are celebrated and loved everyday! If you have never come for a tour of LLH, put it on your bucket list because it is one of the happiest places in the WORLD! Come race a 5k with us! Come cheer with us! Please consider supporting our school by donating, running in our 5K, or volunteering while we continue our legacy of bringing THE BEST disability services to Tulsa! LLH is here to help kid just get to be kids. :)

In Support of Little Light House

Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center for Children with Special Needs from birth to 6 years old. Tulsa’s Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most individualized special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach maximizes a comprehensive knowledge from professionals who work collaboratively to design prescriptive programs for each child and assist every child in reaching their maximum potential. Through a variety of programs and schedules, these services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists, and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Early Intervention classes are provided as a part-time program where caregivers attend and learn along with their child for two-hour classes once a week.

Little Light House is tuition-free for families and does not receive government or United Way funding. Support comes from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. In addition, LLH hosts four annual fundraisers each year bringing in about 40% of the $4.2 million dollar operating cost that allows our staff of over 90 members to provide services to over 300 children and families, support nearly a thousand volunteers, and train over 1,000 college and career students each year.

Little Light House believes that all children are a gift from God with the potential to achieve specific milestones to advance their quality of life. We strive for excellence by utilizing a Bible-based curriculum in a fun and loving atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, trans-disciplinary and God-centered approach to education-an approach that joins parents, professionals, and the Holy Spirit as partners in order to nurture the spirit, mind, and body of the children and their families. Our commitment incorporates being called to work/volunteer with children with special needs. Little Light House encourages a positive outlook on the future, based on trust in a loving heavenly Father.
