A Message From Cate Linsenmeyer

People are sadly mistaken when they say that Disney World or the beach is the happiest place on earth. For the past four years, I have volunteered weekly at the Little Light House. This place holds some of my happiest memories. Undoubtedly, there have been difficult experiences, but I have never felt more joy than when I volunteer at Little Light House! Ask anyone in my family. :) The Little Light House is a Christian-based developmental center that serves children with special needs from birth to age six! Little Light House (LLH) is open four days a week, all year long! LLH is tuition-free for all families and does not rely on government funding! Because of this, it relies exclusively on donations to continue providing the top-notch therapies and care it has provided since 1972! Working with these children is the highlight of my week! I initially began volunteering to fulfill a quota of volunteer hours to achieve a personal goal. Although I am almost finished completing this goal, I never want to leave the LLH! I love the moments I spend there. Each child I develop a friendship with holds an extraordinary place in my heart. The giggles, smiles, and joy that the children at LLH exude do not compare to anything else in my life. This is my third year being an active member of the Little Light House Youth Advisory Board. We are hosting a Fall Fest on October 27th, 2022, at Little Light House this year. You are welcome, wanted, and invited! Our goal for this event is to raise enough money to sponsor one student for an entire year! This brings our goal to $40,000. I invite you to consider donating to the MY happiest place on earth and one child, the gift of education! I am so grateful for your financial support on behalf of the children and families of the LLH. I can’t wait to surpass this goal and launch an amazing event!

In Support of Little Light House

Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center for Children with Special Needs from birth to 6 years old. Tulsa’s Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most individualized special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach maximizes a comprehensive knowledge from professionals who work collaboratively to design prescriptive programs for each child and assist every child in reaching their maximum potential. Through a variety of programs and schedules, these services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists, and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Early Intervention classes are provided as a part-time program where caregivers attend and learn along with their child for two-hour classes once a week.

Little Light House is tuition-free for families and does not receive government or United Way funding. Support comes from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. In addition, LLH hosts four annual fundraisers each year bringing in about 40% of the $4.2 million dollar operating cost that allows our staff of over 90 members to provide services to over 300 children and families, support nearly a thousand volunteers, and train over 1,000 college and career students each year.

Little Light House believes that all children are a gift from God with the potential to achieve specific milestones to advance their quality of life. We strive for excellence by utilizing a Bible-based curriculum in a fun and loving atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, trans-disciplinary and God-centered approach to education-an approach that joins parents, professionals, and the Holy Spirit as partners in order to nurture the spirit, mind, and body of the children and their families. Our commitment incorporates being called to work/volunteer with children with special needs. Little Light House encourages a positive outlook on the future, based on trust in a loving heavenly Father.
