A Message From Caleb and Harper Walton

My name is Caleb Walton and I am a senior participating in my third year of the Little Light House Youth Advisory Board. YAB is a group of students from around Oklahoma who work for 6 months to put on an accessible, fall-themed event called Fall Fest for the Little Light House community, including current students, alumni, waiting list families, and more. Getting not only to learn about the Little Light House and non-profits during meetings but also to work in the classrooms and see the students we are advocating and fundraising for is a wonderful pleasure that I haven't experienced anywhere else! Working in the Aqua class this summer I got to work and play with so many wonderful children, among them Hudson and Jamison who despite their various obstacles were some of the most active and excited kids especially when it came to playing various forms of catch or fetch. I also got to sit with a boy named Tobi and help calm him by rubbing and shaking his hands when he would become frustrated or overstimulated. Seeing his smile during physical therapy when he squatted, picked up, and threw a squishy into a bin or during water play was one of the sweetest experiences I've ever had at Little Light House. Last year, being dunked in the dunk tank and seeing the kid's faces when we dropped and splashed them was such a fun way to connect with kids I hadn't before! We appreciate any and all support and hope you consider donating or sponsoring. Please reach out if you have any questions about Fall Fest or sponsorships! Hi, I'm Harper Walton and this is my first year on the Little Lighthouse Youth Advisory Board! I'm so grateful I get to spend my time connecting with the students of LLH and I am proud to call myself a volunteer and member of the YAB. Every year the Youth Advisory Board raises money for Fall Fest, an event welcoming to everyone. With your donations, Little Lighthouse can give kids with special needs a free education while catering to their learning style. Technology and therapists that were previously unattainable, are now being used gratefully each day. Technologies, teachers, and therapists help these children improve their mobility, motor skills, and communication. We hope to see you at Fall Fest!

In Support of Little Light House

Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center for Children with Special Needs from birth to 6 years old. Tulsa’s Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most individualized special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach maximizes a comprehensive knowledge from professionals who work collaboratively to design prescriptive programs for each child and assist every child in reaching their maximum potential. Through a variety of programs and schedules, these services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists, and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Early Intervention classes are provided as a part-time program where caregivers attend and learn along with their child for two-hour classes once a week.

Little Light House is tuition-free for families and does not receive government or United Way funding. Support comes from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. In addition, LLH hosts four annual fundraisers each year bringing in about 40% of the $4.2 million dollar operating cost that allows our staff of over 90 members to provide services to over 300 children and families, support nearly a thousand volunteers, and train over 1,000 college and career students each year.

Little Light House believes that all children are a gift from God with the potential to achieve specific milestones to advance their quality of life. We strive for excellence by utilizing a Bible-based curriculum in a fun and loving atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, trans-disciplinary and God-centered approach to education-an approach that joins parents, professionals, and the Holy Spirit as partners in order to nurture the spirit, mind, and body of the children and their families. Our commitment incorporates being called to work/volunteer with children with special needs. Little Light House encourages a positive outlook on the future, based on trust in a loving heavenly Father.
