A Message From Georgia Canady

For the past five years, I've had the incredible privilege of working at Little Light House, and I can honestly say it's been the most rewarding chapter of my career. What started as a job has transformed into a passion that gets me excited to come to work every single day.

Every day at Little Light House, I witness the transformative power of our mission firsthand. Working here has shown me what it truly means to be part of something bigger than yourself. I've seen children achieve milestones that seemed impossible, watched families find hope and support during challenging times, and been part of a team that never gives up on the potential within every child we serve.

Over these five years, I've grown tremendously both personally and professionally. The supportive environment at Little Light House encourages innovation, values every team member's contributions, and fosters a culture where making a real difference isn't just encouraged—it's our daily reality. Whether it's celebrating a child's first steps, supporting a family through a difficult diagnosis, or collaborating with therapists and educators to create individualized plans, I've consistently felt empowered to bring my best self to work.

What makes Little Light House truly special isn't just the life-changing work we do, but the people who do it. My colleagues have become more like family, united by our shared commitment to giving every child the opportunity to reach their full potential. As the Senior Director of Philanthropy, I have the incredible honor of sharing Little Light House's story with our community, connecting generous hearts with our mission, and witnessing firsthand how the support of donors transforms lives.

I often tell people that I don't just work at Little Light House—I'm part of the Little Light House family. It's rare to find an organization that so perfectly aligns with your values while providing endless opportunities for growth and meaningful impact. Every donation, every volunteer hour, and every act of support helps us continue this vital work. As someone who has seen the incredible difference Little Light House makes every single day, I'm proud to support this organization that has given me so much and continues to change lives throughout our community.

In Support of Little Light House

Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center for Children with Special Needs from birth to 6 years old. Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most individualized special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach maximizes a comprehensive knowledge from professionals who work collaboratively to design prescriptive programs for each child and assist every child in reaching their maximum potential. Through a variety of programs and schedules, these services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists, and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Early Intervention classes are provided as a part-time program where caregivers attend and learn along with their child for two-hour classes once a week.

Little Light House is tuition-free for families and does not receive United Way funding. Support comes from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. In addition, LLH hosts four annual fundraisers each year bringing in about 40% of the $4.2 million dollar operating cost that allows our staff of over 90 members to provide services to over 300 children and families, support nearly a thousand volunteers, and train over 1,000 college and career students each year.

Little Light House believes that all children are a gift from God with the potential to achieve specific milestones to advance their quality of life. We strive for excellence by utilizing a Bible-based curriculum in a fun and loving atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, trans-disciplinary and God-centered approach to education-an approach that joins parents, professionals, and the Holy Spirit as partners in order to nurture the spirit, mind, and body of the children and their families. Our commitment incorporates being called to work/volunteer with children with special needs. Little Light House encourages a positive outlook on the future, based on trust in a loving heavenly Father.
