A Message From JuJu Ghajar

Julian “JuJu” Ghajar is truly one of a kind. He was born with three ultra-rare genetic neurological disorders and is the only known person in the world with his exact combination of diagnoses. Julian’s development is profoundly delayed, and he has faced more challenges in his short life than most people face in a lifetime. A child this unique needs a highly specialized education — and that hasn’t always been easy to find. Then Little Light House OKC opened its doors. Little Light House is truly a beacon of hope for the families it touches, past, present, and future. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed into a community built to support and celebrate disability families. Every staff member, from the special education teachers to the front-office team, is trained to give families the high-level, customized, and empathetic care they deserve. Students receive occupational, physical, speech, and feeding therapies every week alongside their peers — all at zero cost to families, made possible entirely by private donations. Parents and caregivers are welcomed as true partners in their children’s education and in the wider LLH community. And most importantly, for the first time in a long time, we finally feel like we can breathe. Julian is one of the oldest kids at LLH and will only be able to attend for one year, but he’s already made tremendous progress in just his first week. We know he’ll continue to exceed our expectations for the rest of the year. We’ve had to pinch ourselves more than once already. That’s why we’re so passionate about raising money to help LLH keep providing this care for future families. We’d love for you to join us in fundraising for Mini Laps. But even more, we’d love to have you there with us at the event.

In Support of Little Light House

Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center for Children with Special Needs from birth to 6 years old. Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most individualized special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach maximizes a comprehensive knowledge from professionals who work collaboratively to design prescriptive programs for each child and assist every child in reaching their maximum potential. Through a variety of programs and schedules, these services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists, and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Early Intervention classes are provided as a part-time program where caregivers attend and learn along with their child for two-hour classes once a week.

Little Light House is tuition-free for families and does not receive United Way funding. Support comes from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. In addition, LLH hosts four annual fundraisers each year bringing in about 40% of the $4.2 million dollar operating cost that allows our staff of over 90 members to provide services to over 300 children and families, support nearly a thousand volunteers, and train over 1,000 college and career students each year.

Little Light House believes that all children are a gift from God with the potential to achieve specific milestones to advance their quality of life. We strive for excellence by utilizing a Bible-based curriculum in a fun and loving atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, trans-disciplinary and God-centered approach to education-an approach that joins parents, professionals, and the Holy Spirit as partners in order to nurture the spirit, mind, and body of the children and their families. Our commitment incorporates being called to work/volunteer with children with special needs. Little Light House encourages a positive outlook on the future, based on trust in a loving heavenly Father.
