A Message From Clarey Sharum

As many of you know, I get the honor and privilege of working at my piece of heaven on Earth, the Little Light House! But for those of you who haven’t heard me gush about the Little Light House before, it is a Christian developmental center in Tulsa for children with special needs. Each day, I get to work with my heroes, my angels and precious gifts from God. As a speech-language pathologist, my role within the Little Light House is to help these kids foster, grow and develop their communication skills. On any given day, you may see me using sign language, teaching kiddos how to say speech sounds, helping them grow their vocabulary, assisting them with finding their voice through a speech generating device, working on exploring new foods, strengthening their muscles for chewing and swallowing, and more! Something unique about the Little Light House is that we operate solely through private funding, and each child attends completely tuition free. This saves families over $30,000 per year just in education fees! Between doctor visits, surgical procedures, therapy visits and more, our families are already faced with so many financial obligations. But, thanks to our incredibly generous donors, every child attends free of cost! I am so appreciative of our community that supports me and God’s most special children. On September 11th-13th, I will be participating in a virtual bike, run, walk event to celebrate the Little Light House. Whether it’s by contributing through donations, joining me at this virtual event or simply praying for our organization, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! Your generosity is a blessing to myself and the LLH! If you have questions or would like more information, please message me or visit our website at www.littlelighthouse.org! The LLH is a 501(c)(3) organization and any gift is tax deductible! Check out the video below to learn more about the Little Light House!

In Support of Little Light House

Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center for Children with Special Needs from birth to 6 years old. Tulsa’s Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most individualized special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach maximizes a comprehensive knowledge from professionals who work collaboratively to design prescriptive programs for each child and assist every child in reaching their maximum potential. Through a variety of programs and schedules, these services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists, and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Early Intervention classes are provided as a part-time program where caregivers attend and learn along with their child for two-hour classes once a week.

Little Light House is tuition-free for families and does not receive government or United Way funding. Support comes from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. In addition, LLH hosts four annual fundraisers each year bringing in about 40% of the $4.2 million dollar operating cost that allows our staff of over 90 members to provide services to over 300 children and families, support nearly a thousand volunteers, and train over 1,000 college and career students each year.

Little Light House believes that all children are a gift from God with the potential to achieve specific milestones to advance their quality of life. We strive for excellence by utilizing a Bible-based curriculum in a fun and loving atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, trans-disciplinary and God-centered approach to education-an approach that joins parents, professionals, and the Holy Spirit as partners in order to nurture the spirit, mind, and body of the children and their families. Our commitment incorporates being called to work/volunteer with children with special needs. Little Light House encourages a positive outlook on the future, based on trust in a loving heavenly Father.
