A Message From Nikki Oakes

As many of you know, I work at the Little Light House, the most magical place on earth! The Little Light House, is a non-profit Christian based developmental center in Tulsa, Oklahoma that is committed to helping children with special needs live life to the fullest. At the Little Light House, I serve as a pediatric physical therapist to five classrooms. I lead a PT group each week for all five classrooms. Each group incorporates lessons from a Bible-based curriculum while working on PT skills. The goal is for every student to participate, learn, and have FUN while developing the necessary skills to thrive in school and at home. Outside of groups, I visit classrooms throughout the school day and work one-on-one with kids on motor skills (rolling, sitting, walking, jumping, bike riding), functional mobility, positioning and equipment needs. I am beyond blessed to serve these sweet children and their families. They are such a joy and a light in this world! What is unique about the Little Light House is it operates solely through private funding, and each child attends completely Tuition Free. This saves families over $34,000 per year just in education and therapy fees! Between doctor visits, surgical procedures, therapy visits and more, our families are already faced with so many financial obligations. But, thanks to our incredibly generous donors, every child attends free of cost. I am so appreciative of our community that supports God’s most special children. At Little Light House, we believe our students can achieve great things. With your help, we provide them with the tools that help them communicate, walk, and learn. We celebrate every child’s victory and all the milestones they reach! It is a Joy and a Blessing to serve the children at the Little Light House. This year marks our 50th Anniversary. On September 10th, I will be participating in Miles for Milestones, a 5K event benefiting the Little Light House. Whether it’s by contributing through donations, joining me at this event or simply praying for our organization, THANK YOU! Your generosity is a blessing to myself and the Little Light House! If you have questions or would like more information, please contact Nikki or visit our website at www.littlelighthouse.org The LLH is a 501(c)(3) organization and any gift is tax deductible Check out the video links below to learn more about the Little Light House! https://youtu.be/wXuuMFIuWW4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0VweFKYam0 https://vimeo.com/275271414

In Support of Little Light House

Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center for Children with Special Needs from birth to 6 years old. Tulsa’s Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most individualized special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach maximizes a comprehensive knowledge from professionals who work collaboratively to design prescriptive programs for each child and assist every child in reaching their maximum potential. Through a variety of programs and schedules, these services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists, and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Early Intervention classes are provided as a part-time program where caregivers attend and learn along with their child for two-hour classes once a week.

Little Light House is tuition-free for families and does not receive government or United Way funding. Support comes from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. In addition, LLH hosts four annual fundraisers each year bringing in about 40% of the $4.2 million dollar operating cost that allows our staff of over 90 members to provide services to over 300 children and families, support nearly a thousand volunteers, and train over 1,000 college and career students each year.

Little Light House believes that all children are a gift from God with the potential to achieve specific milestones to advance their quality of life. We strive for excellence by utilizing a Bible-based curriculum in a fun and loving atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, trans-disciplinary and God-centered approach to education-an approach that joins parents, professionals, and the Holy Spirit as partners in order to nurture the spirit, mind, and body of the children and their families. Our commitment incorporates being called to work/volunteer with children with special needs. Little Light House encourages a positive outlook on the future, based on trust in a loving heavenly Father.
