A Message From Jack Light

Jack has been attending Ladybug class since he was 2 months old and is also getting to participate in the Connected Learning Program this school year! Jack has had so much growth in the past two and a half years of Ladybug class. He has gained so much in his social skills and is now playing with his friends, participating in circle time, and following directions. He loves being a part of Ladybug class activities like music, art, and the sensory room. The newest milestones he has reached through Little Light House is feeding skills. He graduated "food school" this past December, and with the help of the therapy team he has tried many new foods! Jack is also signing new words that he has learned through music and play at school. I have watched him grow in so much confidence and independence. Each part of class is adapted to help make Jack successful from the seating to sensory play, and that is one of the many things that makes LLH so special. The teachers and therapists have introduced us to resources and helped us research and brainstorm ideas that we can implement into our own home to support Jack, most recently they let us trial a device with a communication app to help Jack express his needs. Little Light House has not only been a blessing for Jack, but for us as parents also. Ladybug class introduced us to families that have now become like our own family to us. These friendships have been invaluable to us while navigating these early years of disability parenting and have created a unique support system of first-hand understanding and experiences. Coming to Little Light House is always the highlight of our week. It is a physical representation of what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus, and His light shines so bright through the staff. Jack is joyfully welcomed in each time as his full authentic self, and we feel extremely thankful that he gets to be a part of such a special place. If you feel led Jack would be so grateful for any amount of support!

In Support of Little Light House

Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center for Children with Special Needs from birth to 6 years old. Tulsa’s Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most individualized special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach maximizes a comprehensive knowledge from professionals who work collaboratively to design prescriptive programs for each child and assist every child in reaching their maximum potential. Through a variety of programs and schedules, these services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists, and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Early Intervention classes are provided as a part-time program where caregivers attend and learn along with their child for two-hour classes once a week.

Little Light House is tuition-free for families and does not receive government or United Way funding. Support comes from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. In addition, LLH hosts four annual fundraisers each year bringing in about 40% of the $4.2 million dollar operating cost that allows our staff of over 90 members to provide services to over 300 children and families, support nearly a thousand volunteers, and train over 1,000 college and career students each year.

Little Light House believes that all children are a gift from God with the potential to achieve specific milestones to advance their quality of life. We strive for excellence by utilizing a Bible-based curriculum in a fun and loving atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, trans-disciplinary and God-centered approach to education-an approach that joins parents, professionals, and the Holy Spirit as partners in order to nurture the spirit, mind, and body of the children and their families. Our commitment incorporates being called to work/volunteer with children with special needs. Little Light House encourages a positive outlook on the future, based on trust in a loving heavenly Father.
