A Message From Kennedy Chase Stines

Mini Laps 2025! April 12th! It is my honor as Kennedy’s mom to share our experience at Little Light House, and we would love your help fundraising. We received Kennedy’s prenatal diagnosis and joined the waitlist 3 months before she was even born. Although we had no idea what life was going to look like- we had an overwhelming peace in our hearts when we visited. We were immediately invited to weekly and monthly family gatherings, shared resources, and supported in so many ways as we prepared for her arrival. Kennedy was born that May, then we joined the Family Learning Center part-time program in August 2022, meeting our best friends in Ladybug Class! Wednesday’s are our favorite day of the week. Kennedy is continuously learning new words, signs, and songs. Last semester she graduated from Food School, where she tried so many new things and started feeding herself more! Kennedy will be starting full time this Fall and we are so excited, and so proud of her! Little Light House provides Kennedy a place to flourish at her own pace- while providing tools, boosting her confidence, and preparing her for the world that lies ahead. Little Light House is (way more than) a school serving children with special needs, LLH is completely donor funded thanks to our Tulsa community. Their entire operating budget is possible because of generous people like you, making it completely free for Kennedy to attend. Every penny contributes to our children's’ Christian based lessons, Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapy services which are always so fun and engaging (If you haven’t experienced a need for this- you probably don’t understand how HUGE this blessing is!) Little Light House serves over 250 families with hundreds more on the waitlist with the opportunity to attend school once a week through the Family Learning Center. This program allows early intervention for our children but what's changed our lives the most is the community for us as parents and having a place where we truly belong. It’s hard to articulate the impact and importance of this place and everyone in it. LLH campus is magical and every inch designed with every opportunity possible for our kids. Kennedy is in a class with five other tots- they love music time, arts and crafts, counting, and playing together. Kennedy has a team of therapists working with her each week, and LLH provides vision exams and other vital needs for our kids! They have an amazing sensory room, gym, their own splash pad, incredible festivals, and we take field trips to the zoo and so much more. The cost per child each school year is over $35,000.00 and I am still in awe that others believe in our children so generously that every kid who faces extra challenges, has this opportunity at Little Light House with no financial strain. The greatest blessing is that we have a place where Kennedy is loved for exactly who she is. Miracles happen here. Our children are poured into and celebrated. I could never find the words to truly express how important Little Light House is to us. Mini Laps is not only an opportunity for Kennedy and her friends to shine- but a chance for us all to come together as a community, supporting their goals and celebrating the miracles that have occurred this year. We hope you can join us! If you are able to give financially, please know you are an answered prayer and it will change the lives of many. I encourage you to check out our monthly community luncheons, and come tour our school! There are so many incredible things happening here. Eagle Scouts and TU Engineering students create adaptable toys, wheelchairs, and other equipment- like nothing is impossible! It’s truly incredible. There are some wonderful parent testimonies here → www.youtube.com/llhtulsa “ Everything we do at Little Light House is designed to help children and families grow in confidence. When a family walks through the doors of Little Light House, they do not enter a therapy, or medical facility. They join a community where they no longer feel overwhelmed and defeated by the lack of resources to help their child. They enter classrooms where every teacher and their therapist’s top priority is helping students reach their full potential. They walk into a space where kids can be kids. A place where “never” becomes, “not yet.”

In Support of Little Light House

Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center for Children with Special Needs from birth to 6 years old. Tulsa’s Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most individualized special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach maximizes a comprehensive knowledge from professionals who work collaboratively to design prescriptive programs for each child and assist every child in reaching their maximum potential. Through a variety of programs and schedules, these services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists, and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Early Intervention classes are provided as a part-time program where caregivers attend and learn along with their child for two-hour classes once a week.

Little Light House is tuition-free for families and does not receive government or United Way funding. Support comes from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. In addition, LLH hosts four annual fundraisers each year bringing in about 40% of the $4.2 million dollar operating cost that allows our staff of over 90 members to provide services to over 300 children and families, support nearly a thousand volunteers, and train over 1,000 college and career students each year.

Little Light House believes that all children are a gift from God with the potential to achieve specific milestones to advance their quality of life. We strive for excellence by utilizing a Bible-based curriculum in a fun and loving atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, trans-disciplinary and God-centered approach to education-an approach that joins parents, professionals, and the Holy Spirit as partners in order to nurture the spirit, mind, and body of the children and their families. Our commitment incorporates being called to work/volunteer with children with special needs. Little Light House encourages a positive outlook on the future, based on trust in a loving heavenly Father.
