A Message From Kennedy Chase Stines

Little Light House is a place where our kids are genuinely loved and poured into. I didn’t write this but it sums a lot up perfectly: “ Everything we do at Little Light House is designed to help children and families grow in confidence. When a family walks through the doors of Little Light House, they do not enter a therapy, or medical facility. They join a community where they no longer feel overwhelmed and defeated by the lack of resources to help their child. They enter classrooms where every teacher and their therapist’s top priority is helping students reach their full potential. They walk into a space where kids can be kids. A place where “never” becomes, “not yet.” We received Kennedy’s prenatal diagnosis and immediately toured and join the waitlist at LLH. As overwhelmed and scared as we may have been- that first day on campus, I had an overwhelming sense of peace that everything was going to be okay. Almost 3 years later, I wish I could go back in time and just tell myself there is nothing to be afraid of and her life is beautiful and precious, and will bring me more joy than I ever thought possible that just grows more and more each day. Kennedy is blessed to be a part of the part-time fun at Little Light House’s Family Learning Center. Here, we meet once a week. Kennedy has learned so much, we have met our best friends and can’t wait to be in school full-time next year! (Although we will REALLY miss Ms Kaley who I truly just adore.) Our first day of Little Light House was in August of 2022, Kennedy was just 3 months old and our babies weren’t doing much yet physically - it brought me the most beautiful group of friends who just get me. Who get us. Kennedy is in a class with five other babes- she does music time, arts and crafts, counting, they have an amazing sensory room, their own splash pad, incredible festivals, Christian based lessons, Physical, Occupation, and Speech therapy services which are always so fun and engaging (If you haven’t experienced a need for this- you probably don’t understand how HUGE this blessing is!!) and last semester she participated in Food School! This improved her independence at the table, especially with self feeding, trying new foods, and routine. We are so proud of her! Little Light House provides Kennedy a place to flourish at her own pace, perfectly her. But still provides all the tools and boosts her confidence, and is preparing her for future classroom settings and the world that lies ahead. This place will always have such a special place in my heart. Mini Laps is an annual celebratory fundraising event where the kids walk a lap around the circle drive to recognize all of their accomplishments and hard work through the school year while we cheer them on! This event is not only an opportunity for Kennedy and her friends to shine but a chance for us all to come together as a community, supporting their goals and celebrating the miracles that have occurred this year. The blessings Little Light House brings would not be possible without the generous blessings of our Tulsa community- LLH is completely tuition free to our families and are completely donor funded. Their entire operating budget and everything they provide for families like ours, are only possible through the giving of people just like you. Year after year I am just truly blown away, and I have a hard time imagining life after we age out. This place means more to me as a mother than I could ever properly articulate. Your presence, kind words, prayers, and encouragement mean the world to us and we would be honored to have you join us at the event! 2025 Mini Laps will be in the front parking lot of Light Light House at 36th and Yale on April 12th at 9am. We are so excited and hope to see you there! (((Little Light House is a completely tuition free, non profit, Christian Child Development Center that provides specialized education and therapy services for children with special needs from birth through age 6. LLH currently serves over 250 families weekly with a growing waitlist of hundreds more.)))

In Support of Little Light House

Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center for Children with Special Needs from birth to 6 years old. Tulsa’s Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most individualized special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach maximizes a comprehensive knowledge from professionals who work collaboratively to design prescriptive programs for each child and assist every child in reaching their maximum potential. Through a variety of programs and schedules, these services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists, and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Early Intervention classes are provided as a part-time program where caregivers attend and learn along with their child for two-hour classes once a week.

Little Light House is tuition-free for families and does not receive government or United Way funding. Support comes from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations. In addition, LLH hosts four annual fundraisers each year bringing in about 40% of the $4.2 million dollar operating cost that allows our staff of over 90 members to provide services to over 300 children and families, support nearly a thousand volunteers, and train over 1,000 college and career students each year.

Little Light House believes that all children are a gift from God with the potential to achieve specific milestones to advance their quality of life. We strive for excellence by utilizing a Bible-based curriculum in a fun and loving atmosphere. We believe in an individualized, trans-disciplinary and God-centered approach to education-an approach that joins parents, professionals, and the Holy Spirit as partners in order to nurture the spirit, mind, and body of the children and their families. Our commitment incorporates being called to work/volunteer with children with special needs. Little Light House encourages a positive outlook on the future, based on trust in a loving heavenly Father.
